Fall 2010 Youth Introductory Rowing and Coxing

NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY

For youth aged 18 and younger with little or no experience. Athletes will be taken through a one-week introduction to the sport using a combination of indoor rowing machines, tanks, and on the water rowing.

Dates: September 20 through September 25
Days: Monday through Saturday
Times: 3:30-5:30 PM (12:30-2:00 PM on Saturday)
Cost: $125*

* Tuition for the introductory program may be credited in full to a novice program in the same season.



Fall 2010 Youth Novice Competitive Rowing and Coxing

The competitive novice program is for athletes that are within their first year of rowing or coxing and are able to start early. This program will use an intensive and methodical approach to technical and physical development of athletes so that they may learn to move a rowing shell quickly and effectively. Opportunities to compete against novice athletes from other teams will become available as athletes reach the apropriate skill level, with the Merrimack Chase being the first competition for most athletes.

Fall 2010 Youth Novice Intramural Rowing and Coxing

The intramural novice program is for athletes that are within their first year or rowing or coxing and desire a less significant time committment. This program is focused on improving skills and reinforcing fundamental technical development, with intrasquad competitions every other week and a chance to race at the Merrimack Chase at the end of the season.

Fall 2010 Youth (aka Junior or Varsity) Rowing and Coxing

This is the competitive team for athletes that have moved beyond their novice year and are proficient at moving a rowing shell. Training will focus on continued development of technical skills as well as reinforcement of the aerobic energy system to prepare for fall season racing and provide a solid foundation for the spring championship season.
